Before starting the embroidery on your apparel, you will receive a 3D simulation, allowing you to check the colors, dimensions, and other project details. This gives you full control over the final look of your order.

How to Prepare Artwork for Embroidery? Requirements and Guidelines
Are you planning to order embroidery on clothing with your logo or design? To achieve the best results, it is important to properly prepare the graphic file. In this article, we explain the file requirements for embroidery and what to consider to ensure your artwork is clear and well-reproduced.
1. File Format for Embroidery
To correctly prepare embroidery, it is best to provide your artwork in one of the following formats:
✅ Vector files: CDR, AI, SVG, EPS, PDF
✅ High-quality raster files: PNG, JPG (minimum 300 DPI)
Vector files are preferred because they can be scaled without losing quality. JPG or PNG files may require additional processing and conversion into vector graphics.
2. Minimum Line Thickness for Embroidery
Embroidery cannot replicate very thin details. The minimum line thickness should be at least 1 mm.
✅ If the lines in your logo are too thin, they should be thickened.
✅ Text and details should be clear enough to avoid blending with the fabric.
How to Check Line Thickness?
- Enlarge your design to 20 cm width and check if the thinnest elements are still readable.
- If you are unsure, contact us – we will review your artwork before embroidery production.
3. Minimum Letter Size
✅ The minimum letter height should be 5-6 mm to ensure readability.
✅ Very thin or decorative fonts may need to be thickened.
If your logo contains small text, consider enlarging or removing it for embroidery.
4. Colors in Embroidery Design
✅ Embroidery is done using threads in specific colors – tonal gradients and shading cannot be used.
✅ The logo should have a limited number of colors (preferably 4-6) for a clean and professional look.
✅ If your logo contains color gradients, simplification will be necessary.
5. Embroidery Size
✅ Standard chest embroidery – 10-12 cm width
✅ Larger back or front sweatshirt embroidery – 20-30 cm width
The larger the embroidery, the more details can be captured. Small elements in a small embroidery may blend together.
6. Minimum Distance Between Lines of Different Colors
To ensure embroidery looks clean and avoids color merging, the minimum distance between lines should be at least 1-1.5 mm.
✅ If two lines in different colors are too close, the threads may mix and lose detail.
✅ For very fine elements, it’s best to space them out or thicken them.
✅ If lines must be very close, a light underlay can be used for stabilization.
7. Can Lines Overlap?
It is not recommended for lines in different colors to overlap because:
❌ Overlapping threads can cause excessive embroidery density, which may wrinkle the fabric.
❌ The embroidery machine may struggle to accurately reproduce colors – they may blend at the edges.
❌ Too many overlapping stitches can make the embroidery stiff and uneven, especially on thicker materials.
✅ Solution: If two lines must touch, add a minimal overlap (about 0.5 mm) to prevent gaps between colors but avoid excessive thread buildup.
8. How to Submit Your File?
✅ You can send your file via email or through the form on our website.
If you are unsure about the file quality – contact us, and we will help prepare your artwork for embroidery.
